From Training to Transformation: How to Design Learning That Sticks by Yemilo Audu

Date: Thursday, January 15, 2026

Time: 9am PT / 10am MT / 11am CT / 12pm ET / 1pm AT

Format: 1.5 hours

Learning That Sticks is a practical, research-informed workshop for anyone responsible for creating learning experiences that last; volunteer managers, staff trainers, and professionals supporting onboarding, internal education, or capacity building.

Participants will explore how adults learn, why people forget, and what makes learning meaningful and ready to apply. The session blends learning science with hands-on application, covering adult learning principles, memory and retention, and four core strategies that make content stick.

Through interactive activities, participants will apply these concepts and by the end, they’ll leave with practical tools, and a stronger understanding of how to make learning that truly lasts.

Participants will be able to:

  1. Explain key principles of adult learning and how they influence knowledge retention and engagement.

  2. Identify common barriers that prevent learning from being applied or remembered.

  3. Apply evidence-based strategies to make training content meaningful, relevant, and easier to recall.

  4. Redesign learning activities or modules using techniques that strengthen retention and application.

  5. Evaluate existing training sessions for alignment with adult learning principles and long-term impact.

Outcome: A refreshed approach to internal learning, grounded in experience and ready for use.
