Job Description / Duties

Maintains the Better Impact volunteer database of all volunteer applicants; Active & Inactive.

Provides screening protocol for all volunteer applicants, conducting interviews ; reference checks, ensuring criminal records clearance; compliance and completion per PHSA Learning Hub modules including; Privacy & Confidentiality & Hand Hygiene/Infection Prevention training. Facilitating orientation/training by Hospital staff within their volunteer assignment.

Liaise with supervisors to ensure volunteers' success; monitors performance with any issues or concerns by volunteers &/or hospital staff.

Responds routinely to incoming inquiries; requests for information on donations and Hospital Auxiliary business operations.

Supports the Manager, Volunteer Resources to ensure patient-centered services are meeting assignment objectives.

Assists in annual budget development to meet specific program & assignments; reviewing anticipated expenditures; & providing recommendations.

Communicates with volunteers to ensure current practice standards on procedural & program changes through newsletters, emails & meetings.

Reviews and recommends new and updated volunteer assignments; procedures and practice standards within Volunteer Resources.

Plans and implements volunteer recognition events and activities appropriate to the volunteer demographic.
Responds to requests for references and provides confirmation of engagement'; validating volunteer hours & assignments.

Facilitates a variety of donor relationships for in-kind and monetary contributions, and works closely with the Hospital Foundations to create & build donor stewardship.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Baccalaureate degree in Social Sciences, Education or Health related field plus completion of a certificate program in volunteer management from a recognized community /college program supplemented by three to five years' recent, related experience including two (2) years in a leadership role or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current membership with the Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada (VMPC) is an asset.

Additional Information

Volunteer Resources staff work closely with the Hospital Auxiliary Boards to provide support & assistance with initiatives on and off the Hospital campus.

The Coordinator facilitates daily operations for the patient engagement & service programs which include social enterprise initiatives of the Auxiliary to BCCH & BCWH.
The Coordinator assists the Manager, Volunteer Resources in the promotion and implementation of volunteer engagement internally and in the community.
