Virtual Mentor Session with Charmaine Cades

affiché le 4:25 PM, Août 23, 2019

Charmaine Cades is the Manager, Volunteer Resources at the Children’s Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay, where she has led volunteer involvement in high risk child welfare setting for the past 20 years.  She also has experience running volunteer programs at long term care facilities and an acute/rehab hospital.

During her 30+ year career in the field of volunteer management, she has had to navigate organizational change many times. Most significantly when the Ontario’s Health Care Commission closed 3 of 5 city hospitals. The process started in Thunder Bay then moved out to other cities in their province.  She was actively involved in managing the transition process of this merger and downsizing.

In this session, you will hear about some of her experiences with change and the lessons she has learned along the way. Find out why change can sometimes be a good thing, what to do when faced with major change, how to utilize volunteers in advocacy, and how to focus on the impact and priorities for the people you serve.

In this session, you will have the chance to ask Charmaine questions and to get her insight into challenges you are facing around this theme or working in health care or child welfare settings.
